I have been a Veterinary Assistant/Manager for twenty eight years. For the past seventeen years I have worked at Iredell Companion Animal Hospital. Dr. Diana Bowman was the owner of the hospital until she passed away unexpectedly in April 2006. We were very close since we spent more time with eachother everyday than our families. I continued to run the animal hospital for her husband until it was sold.
In June of 2006 I became certified in grooming because I did not want to work for another veterinarian but did not want to stop working with animals. In November 2007 Dr. Rob McCurry who was one of the relief vets at the hospital decided to buy the practice and asked me to continue working. I decided to stay because I enjoyed working with him and I had become close to the clients. I now have the best of both worlds because I work at the hospital four days a week and then in my own grooming shop two days a week.
On a personal note, I have a wonderful fiance', three of the best daughters anyone could ask for, a great soon to be stepson, two beautiful Grandaughters a handsome Grandson and my fourth grandchild is expected to be her the end of August. When I am not working I love to spend time with my family including my mom who is 90 years old.
I have five dogs, a cat, two horses, a pony, a rat and a potbelly pig named Spamela. I have my wildlife rehabilitation permit and love to raise opossums, rabbits and whatever little creature that needs some help.
